Hayley A. Chittenden is a litigation and transactions attorney who comes to the firm with experience in litigating commercial and construction law matters, family and matrimonial matters, landlord tenant law, and criminal law. Ms. Chittenden is a sharp and relentless advocate in the courtroom and a collaborative and innovative deal-maker when negotiating. She is passionate about her career and the legal system but most importantly, her clients and the outcome of their cases.
Ms. Chittenden has litigated matters from their inception to resolution practicing in a wide range of areas. She understands that lawsuits can be a stressful and lengthy process for her clients. Sensitive to that, she frequently updates her clients on the progress of their cases and fights vigorously for her clients throughout all aspects of litigation.
She is also active in representing clients in various transactional matters including drafting wills, health care proxies, lease agreements, real estate closing documents, settlement agreements and mechanic’s liens. She also assists clients with corporate formations, including filing incorporation documents, drafting operating, shareholder and partnership agreements, articles of incorporation, bylaws and obtaining professional licenses.
Since joining Tilem & Associates, P.C., Ms Chittenden has handled a variety of traffic tickets. She has appeared in the county courts of Westchester and the surrounding counties defending all types of traffic tickets including but not limited to speeding to driving with a suspended license. Ms. Chittenden’s goal is to protect the licenses and insurance rates of her clients by fighting for a dismissal of the ticket or a reduction.
Ms. Chittenden earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice with a minor in Media Studies from Sacred Heart University in 2012. Ms. Chittenden started her legal career during her enrollment in college where she worked for two different law firms and was exposed to a variety of practices. She went on to graduate from Pace University School of Law where she earned her Juris Doctor Degree in 2016. While in law school, she achieved recognition on the Dean’s List and was a member of the Italian American Law Student Organization, Student Animal Legal Defense Club, Women’s Association of Law Students and the Jewish Law Students Association. While maintaining a full course load, Ms. Chittenden interned for a large real estate firm and a boutique family law firm both located in White Plains. In addition, she had the pleasure of interning for the Honorable Anthony A. Scarpino, Jr. (now the Westchester County District Attorney) in Westchester Surrogate’s Court.
Ms. Chittenden is a native of Westchester County and comes from a law enforcement family. Before joining Tilem & Associates, P.C., Ms. Chittenden had the opportunity to work for several reputable and respected law firms throughout White Plains where she practiced both litigation and transactional work.
Ms. Chittenden is admitted to practice in the state of New York and before the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York. She is active in the community as a member of the Westchester County Bar Association, the New York Bar Association and the American Bar Association.
